A emissora Telemundo, dos Estados Unidos, já deu o pontapé inicial na produção de Reina Madre (Rainha Mãe), versão para o mercado hispânico da trama global Fina Estampa, sucesso no Brasil em 2011. Coproduzida com a Globo, a trama será gravada em Miami e terá a adaptação supervisionada por Aguinaldo Silva.
Até o momento, não há muitas informações quanto à escolha do elenco. A protagonista Griselda, vivida por Lília Cabral na original, agora caberá à atriz venezuelana Sonya Smith (foto acima). No Brasil, Sonya é conhecida por ter estrelado a novela Acorrentada, exibida pela CNT em 2010. A vilã Tereza Cristina (Christiane Torloni), por sua vez, ficará a cargo da colombiana Catherine Siachoque.
Reina Madre tem previsão de estreia para o início de 2013 e será a terceira coprodução entre a Globo e a Telemundo. As novelas globais Vale Tudo (1988), de Gilberto Braga, e O Clone (2002), de Glória Perez, já foram regravadas pelo canal hispânico, ligada à rede americana NBC, em 2002 e 2010 respectivamente.
