A exposição destaca diversas Marias icônicas da cultura brasileira através de ilustrações da artista visual Isabela Sultani. Além disso, apresenta curiosidades sobre a origem do nome “Maria”, seu significado e evolução, e inclui uma sala imersiva com animações de canções populares que mencionam o nome “Maria”. Também há uma sequência fotográfica com imagens de Marias de todo o Brasil, enviadas especialmente para a exposição, ressaltando a universalidade e ubiquidade deste nome no país.
Como parte dessa celebração, o compositor Vitor Pirralho, conhecido por sua profunda ligação com a música brasileira, compôs uma canção exclusiva para o projeto intitulada “Mar ia”. Para dar vida a essa obra, Vitor contou com a voz icônica de Ney Matogrosso e com a produção musical de Yuri Queiroga, elevando ainda mais a magnitude da homenagem. A captação de imagens do projeto ficou por conta de Gibson Moares. Além disso, a composição de Vitor faz uma crítica social ao grave problema de subsidência que está ocorrendo em Maceió, mostrando a relevância e atualidade da obra. A canção e seu videoclipe serão lançados no dia 02 de agosto.
“A escolha de Ney Matogrosso para interpretar a canção ‘Mar ia’ não foi ao acaso. Ney, ao longo de sua carreira, gravou diversas músicas que mencionam ‘Maria’, tornando-se uma referência nesse contexto. Ao ouvir suas músicas, percebi a recorrência do nome ‘Maria’ e me inspirei a criar esta exposição como uma forma de homenagear todas as Marias do Brasil”, explica Isabela Sultani, artista responsável pela exposição.
A exposição “Marias” visa não apenas celebrar a arte e a música, mas também reconhecer a força, resiliência e diversidade das Marias brasileiras. Com um forte apelo cultural e social, o projeto busca alcançar um público amplo, desde entusiastas da arte e música até estudantes e famílias, proporcionando a todos uma experiência única de conexão e reconhecimento. O projeto é patrocinado pelo Governo Federal, Ministério da Cultura, Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, e Secretaria de Estado de Cultura e Economia Criativa do Rio de Janeiro, através da Lei Paulo Gustavo, pelo edital de Artes Visuais.
